This Week In Goals
As the image suggests, let’s start with food! My new dish of the week was grilled lamb cutlets with a basil sauce. I’ve cooked lamb once before, but this was a totally different flavor. My first lamb-cooking adventure was a slow roasted shank - very fatty, very heavy. The better cut, along with grilling instead of slow roasting it in it’s own fat, made this a much better summer...

A better week!
I was totally focused and productive this week! ‘Bout time! Here’s some specifics.  Exercising:  I haven’t lifted in over two weeks, but I ran a lot this week. I’ve got a new route that I love. It’s just shy of three miles which is a about a mile further than what I had been running on a regular basis. And I finally found a way to use the exercise category as the...

The Big Picture
Two Olympic related photo series from The Big Picture. I’ve been constantly showing people the anti-terrorism exercise images for a few weeks now, but the opening ceremony images are also well worth viewing.

Ugh. It's that time again?
Some weeks I get excited for this post. I feel utterly worked out, cooked out and read out. And I can’t wait to tell the world. Other weeks, I neglect tumblr, don’t cook at all, and never once open a book. Fortunately, the weeks where I fail with my goals have been few and (with the exception of the past two weeks) far between. I just completed my move, and am still settling in. There...

Last Week
I believe last week was probably the biggest fail towards my three goals this year. I’m between apartments right now. That’s my excuse. Not a very good one, but whatever. Here’s the damage toll: Read zero pages in that book I’m reading, Catch-22. Made zero new or noteworthy foods. Went to the gym zero times, but I did run twice. Yay! A non-zero number for you.

How to be a Customer Service Ninja →
This consumerist article just proved invaluable. I’ve spent the last few days dealing with the many annoyances of moving. Transfering utilities, canceling insurances, forwarding mail, trying to figure out where all the packaging tape went, etc. The worst part of it all, without question, was trying to cancel my Verizon FIOS TV and internet service. Over the course of the last 2 days, I spent...

Last Week
Friends and random interneters, I’m moving. Thats right, for the sixth consecutive August I’ll be changing states. It was a streak I was hoping to end last year, but alas, it remains alive and well. On friday, I’ll be piloting a rental truck back to Pennsylvania and when the dust settles, I’ll be in a new apartment in the city of Pittsburgh. I’ll still be working for...

Weekly Update
Reading: I’m on page 282 of 453 in my current book, “Catch-22”. I’ll admit, I’m not really that into it. I appreciate the humor and off-the-cuff writing style, but it’s not a book I look forward to picking up and reading. It’s more a book I read just to read a book. Whatever. I’ll get through it. Cooking: WIN! I made really great dinners on...

The Great Organic Myths →
My Dad’s job takes him to dairy farms all across the northern US. The dirtiest, most poorly run dairies he’s seen are the organic farmers hoping to ride the trend to higher profit margins. He’s seen a few well run organic farms, but sadly they seem to be the exception, where as the schiesters are the rule.

A Week's Progress
This week went insanely fast. I worked hard, spent $200 on gasoline, and my most exciting food foray was a new flavored cheese burger (I’m not complaining). I read 27 pages in my book, which was probably only the equivalent of two train rides. I did however do a whole lot of working out. I made four trips to the gym and got 3 good runs in. So, not an incredibly exciting week in the goal...

“You mean there’s a catch?” “Sure there’s a catch,” Doc Daneeka replied. “Catch-22. Anyone who wants to get out of combat duty isn’t really crazy.”  There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind....

Week in Review
I’m working on some goals for this year. They’re very basic. I want to read more, cook better, and exercise regularly. Oh, and I also want to write a review of my progress with these goals every week. Here’s what last week looked like.  Reading - I made use of my Boston Public Library card for the first time and checked out Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I’m currently on...

Update on the Week
This week I went to the gym THREE TIMES and ran outside twice. I think this is my most embarrassing goal to write about, but I think it’s really essential to hold onto the fitness patterns I established back in High School. For a long time, I thought it would just develop into a sort of instinctual habit, but it appears that isn’t going to happen. I guess I’ll just have to...

Week in Review
I’m going to go bullet-free this week in favor of a short, descriptive paragraph. This week was a great success for my reading goal. I finally completed Atlas Shrugged this morning. All 1069 pages of it. Ayn Rand tends to be a bit heavy on the details, but despite that, I really enjoyed the story and characters, and feel great about knocking such a monumental book off of my reading to-do...
