Can you imagine anything more fabulous and relaxing than driving across the beautiful countryside in a convertible with friends eating the entire time and getting paid to do it?
I can’t.
WATCH THE TRAILER
Really looking forward to watching this series with Gwyneth Paltrow, Mario Batali, Mark Bittman, and Claudia Bassols on PBS in the Fall.

OH MAN this looks awesome. Even with Frank Ghery in the trailer!

The Big Picture

Two Olympic related photo series from The Big Picture. I’ve been constantly showing people the anti-terrorism exercise images for a few weeks now, but the opening ceremony images are also well worth viewing.

Ugh. It’s that time again?

Some weeks I get excited for this post. I feel utterly worked out, cooked out and read out. And I can’t wait to tell the world. Other weeks, I neglect tumblr, don’t cook at all, and never once open a book. Fortunately, the weeks where I fail with my goals have been few and (with the exception of the past two weeks) far between. I just completed my move, and am still settling in. There are still plenty of boxes, and as of right now, I still don’t have internet (thanks comcast).

I actually did alright with exercise, running three times, but didn’t do much in the way of cooking or reading. I’m so ready to get settled, and get back into more of a routine.

Last Week

I believe last week was probably the biggest fail towards my three goals this year. I’m between apartments right now. That’s my excuse. Not a very good one, but whatever. Here’s the damage toll:

  • Read zero pages in that book I’m reading, Catch-22.
  • Made zero new or noteworthy foods.
  • Went to the gym zero times, but I did run twice. Yay! A non-zero number for you.

Last Week

Friends and random interneters, I’m moving. Thats right, for the sixth consecutive August I’ll be changing states. It was a streak I was hoping to end last year, but alas, it remains alive and well. On friday, I’ll be piloting a rental truck back to Pennsylvania and when the dust settles, I’ll be in a new apartment in the city of Pittsburgh. I’ll still be working for my beloved barbarians, but I will now be a permanent work-from-homer. That being said, I now return to the usual weekly update.

  • Reading - I’m on page 337 of 453 in Catch-22, BUT my copy is property of the Boston Public Library. Hmmm…what to do….
  • Cooking - Due to a mixup at the grocery store last week, I ended up with over a pound of fresh spaghetti. After one round of my favorite pasta bianco, I was ready to try some different things. So, I picked up some muscles and a small amount of shrimp and made two delicious seafood pasta dishes. I was surprised how cheap the muscles were. Not sure how much of that is due to my proximity to the ocean, but I plan to cook with them much more often.
  • Exercising - I canceled my gym membership saturday, on my second trip of the week. I only ran twice  as well, so a little bit slackerly with this particular goal.

The Steelwood Chair - designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Magis
This little chair is working hard for icon status. The above image is a production still from Gary Hustwits upcoming documentary on industrial design, Objectified. It also has 3 pages of this months Dwell dedicated to it.
